How to choose a sunscreen you’ll use
Venus
At the shelf, look for broad spectrum, SPF 30 or higher, and water resistant. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends all three for time outdoors. Broad spectrum means the sunscreen protects against UVA and UVB rays.
Match the product to the day
Pick a texture you’ll be comfortable putting on all exposed skin. For a day of swimming or sweating, check the water resistance time on the package and pack the bottle so you can reapply. Follow the label, reapply at least every two hours outdoors, and reapply after swimming or sweating.
Use shade and clothing too
A hat, protective clothing, and shade help limit exposure. Keep your sunscreen with the things you usually take outdoors, so it’s easy to bring along.
